Windows Printing
Printing Instructions for Windows
In building 32 all users who wish to print must be on the CSAILPrivate wireless network or wired CSAIL Ethernet.
In building 45 printing is available wirelessly via MIT Secure or wired Ethernet configured on CSAIL subnet (mostly 6th and 7th floors).
The list below will show the available printers and their respective model numbers

Windows 11 printing
These instructions are for Windows 11. Windows 10 and earlier are unsupported.
Depending on the printer, Windows 11 may automatically find and download drivers. If not, follow these steps:
- Go to http://www.support.xerox.com
- Enter the model number of your printer in the search box and download the appropriate PS Global Print driver.
- Execute the .exe file. Extract to C:\Xerox (create folder if needed)
- Proceed to Adding the printer below
Adding the printer
- Go to “Settings” “bluetooth and devices” scroll down to and select “printers and scanners”
- Scroll down to “The printer that I want isn’t listed” then select “add manually” on the right
- Select “add a printer using an IP address or hostname”
Device Type:autodetectTCP/IP:autodetectHostname:[printername].csail.mit.edu(e.g., xerox2.csail.mit.edu) Port Name: leave blank - Check the box “Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use”
- If prompted, choose “Do not Share Printer”
Troubleshooting
Printer not found:
- Verify you’re on CSAILPrivate or wired CSAIL Ethernet
- Check hostname spelling (e.g., xerox2.csail.mit.edu)
Driver installation fails:
